CK SIGNATURES LIMITED (Behind the scene stories of OFADA RICE POUNDO, OFADA RICE AND PICKED BEANS)

After launching rice poundo, I needed to add other food products along side existing products but I did not know what to add not because there are no food products ideas that are lucrative, I only needed God’s guidance on which products to venture into. Entering into year 2020, the idea spark to make ofada rice in form of a swallow, I made research to see if it is something common but to my greatest suprise, most people told me they have never heard of such. During my research, I got negative feedbacks that the product(Ofada Rice Poundo) is not a good idea, people might not buy it etc and I also got few positive feedback that it’s worth giving it a try since ofada rice itself is a healthy meal, it will be a unique product etc.. Just like David encourage himself in the lord, I also did and trust God who has given me this wonderful idea of creating the product(Ofada rice poundo) to help get great results.

✍With three thousand, two hundred naira I produced a little quantity of the product for a start. After producing, my younger brother helped me to design a sticker and I printed it on a normal A4 paper, bought shoe maker gum and stick it on the nylon. I sold it offline first and asked for feedback on the product to know if there is need for adjustment of the product. I got great feedback on the product like amazing product, nice concept, light swallow etc and also got a negative feedback that I should improve on the smoothness of the ofada rice poundo which we have made amends on to give our customers the best. After getting the product right, I made a post on our Facebook page on the ofada rice poundo and ran an ads. Boom! We made great sales.

✍The product(Ofada Rice Poundo) was launched January, 2020. We have evolved over time by changing the packaging and look forward to a better future.

✍In the month of February, I saw a post from Mrs Balogun Olubukola in my news feed for anyone who will like to do a give away with his/her products. I indicated my interest in giving out some of my products for the give away. I personally took the product to Mrs Balogun Olubukola of Royal Touch Castles. During our discussion she suggested that we should consider selling ofada since we sell ofada rice poundo. She also suggested we sell picked beans. I was glad I met this beautiful and amazing woman. I went back home to think and pray about it. We started selling ofada rice and picked beans along side other products in CK Signatures Limited. Ofada rice and picked beans was launched February, 2020.

✍Ofada Rice Poundo is freshly made and packaged to give your soup a together relish taste.

CK SIGNATURES LIMITED (Behind the scene stories of RICE POUNDO)

During one of my visit to my mum’s school, she spoke about a swallow she makes herself that looks exactly like poundo yam for home use. The food arm of the business was something I have been looking for what to start with, that’s was how I considered the swallow my mum talked about even though it does not have a name but I named it RICE POUNDO.

Ck SIGNATURES LIMITED (Behind the scene story of CLIQ FRESH LIQUID SOAP and CLIQ FRESH SHAMPOO).

✍The first product I started with in CK SIGNATURES LIMITED was CLIQ FRESH LIQUID SOAP with just N3000 and made my first sales within seventy-two hours of commencing the business. How? I and my husband started moving from one store to another radically marketing the business. There was a particular store owned by a man, he gave us the audience and I marketed the product (liquid soap) to him, he was so much in love with it that he requested for a carton each of two hundred and fifty ml and one litre respectively. As a smart entrepreneur who did not have a carton for packaging as at that time, I went to the store next to my house and requested for an empty carton of Indomie noodles and biscuits, turned the plain inner part outside and outer part inside, and arranged the liquid soap inside it. Boom! Ready for supply and I got paid.

✍Getting paid for the product boosted my confidence and morale that if one person can pay for it, many more would come considering the fact that there is a large market for the business in my country Nigeria based on a population of over two hundred million people. The market is big enough for everyone to succeed in it because no single company can meet up the demand of all.

✍Right from when the business started, my neighbours in the house where I lived then were the first people I gave my product to and it was for free! I asked for their feedback in return. Their feedback was good at first but later as they kept purchasing the product (liquid soap) I started getting complaints from them and stores around that the liquid soap was not foaming well. I worked on it which resulted in a change in the formula used for production.

“If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you’ve launched too late.” –Reid Hoffman

✍Anytime my products are sold or given out for free, I usually ask for feedback about it to know what customers like and don’t like about the product. At a particular time, a customer complained of the harshness of the liquid soap on her hands and discolouring of her coloured dishes, that took me back to the drawing board by figuring out what could be the issue, I discovered that the quantity of the chemical that serves as a cleaning agent was too much. Due to the discovery, I was able to reduce it to the right quantity after experimenting.

“Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.” – Bill Gate

✍Presently we are on the seventh formula for the liquid soap because we kept on improving with the use of customer’s feedback to know what we are doing right and improve on what we are not doing right. This has helped tremendously to get our onions right and our unique selling point as well.

“Nothing works better than just improving your product.” – Joel Spolsky

✍We expanded our product line by adding CLIQ FRESH SHAMPOO due to market demand(Lagos Island Market).

✍Cliq fresh liquid soap, a domestic liquid soap that has a long lasting fragrance and sparkling which effectively remove oil, grease and tough stains. It is suitable for household chores and can serve as a party souvenir.

👉Gentle and mild on the hand.

👉Suitable for general cleaning purpose.

👉It has a long lasting fragrance.

👉It removes dirt, grease, tough stains and get rid of germs.

👉Serves as a party/event souvenir.

👉Affordable, value for money and pocket friendly.

✍Cliq fresh shampoo, formulated to thoroughly remove dirt and grease from your hair and scalp.

What makes CLIQ FRESH SHAMPOO special👇 ?

👉Keeps dirt and grease away.

👉It is easy to rinse.

👉Keeps hair silky and smooth.

👉Repairs damaged hair.

Ck SIGNATURES LIMITED (Our story)

CK SIGNATURES LIMITED(Our story)

During the pregnancy of my first child as a stay at home mom, the thought of what to do pre-occupied my mind each passing day. For me, whatever I was going to do must be something that is solution-driven, I’m passionate about and gives me financial freedom. To achieve this, l looked inwards and around me, then I remembered the time my mom makes liquid soap for home use not for commercial use though. Considering the fact that liquid soap is part of our daily lifestyle for every household for various purposes, I thought this will be the perfect business for me to venture into.

“The value of an idea lies in the use of it.” – Thomas Edison.

Then finally came the opportunity to learn from my mom who is a teacher by profession with the knowledge of soap making during her visit to my home to take care of me and the baby which is popularly called “omugwo” in Nigeria, West Africa. Every idea presents itself as an opportunity. In the month of November 2012, I launched the company.

“Always think outside the box and embrace opportunities that appear, wherever they might be.” – Lakshmi Mittal

At the stage of developing my business idea, one of the things I wanted is a business that is solution-driven and my impact will be felt in my country and the world at large, this propels me to name my business in line with what I wanted. I named my business “CK TOTAL SOLUTIONS” when I started the business but at the point of registering the business with corporate affairs commission (CAC), the body responsible for business name registration in Nigeria, it was not approved after a search was conducted, I had to change it to ” CK SIGNATURES LIMITED. Wondering what CK means? CK is the initials of my name. Officially CK SIGNATURES LIMITED was launched May, 2013.

I started with Cliq fresh liquid soap, but as time evolved other products, Cliq fresh shampoo, Rice poundo, Ofada rice poundo, Ofada rice, Picked beans, Yogurt Parfait and granola were launched.

Now, we also offer services on business consulting and trainings on skill acquisition.

Ck Signatures Ltd. has different arms which are CK Signatures Foods(CKS FOODS) and CK Signatures Academy(Skill Acquisition School).

Learn a Skill.

✍Years ago when I was working in a school, a beautiful young vibrant and resourceful lady walked into the school to advertise her products which were bead bags, purses, shoes, necklaces, earrings and other accessories. This beautiful pieces were something to behold, is something you can not resist even if you want to, the flashy colours and everything she combined even the packaging was wow. Trust us we women, we like good things and want to look beautiful which most people could not resist all the items brought and they began to buy from her. Rather than joining the majority, I saw something different which is “what if I can learn this?”. I asked the lady if I could learn this, her reply was yes. The most amazing thing here is she sold most of the items around N5000.

✍Years later, I was under a ministration of a youth pastor, he said he had the opportunity to meet with the former President Olusegun Obasanjo one on one, instead of asking for money or contract, he simply requested for access to him anytime he wishes to see him and baba granted him his request and the rest they say is history.

When someone gives you a fish, three things can happen.

👉 The person can be tired at a point in time.

👉The person may be indisposed as a result of accidents or loss of job or livelihood.

👉 The person may pass away.

✍So many of us have been grounded(fixated) by the promise of others that has seized to come because of unforseen circumstances and continued reliance to be fed with fishes rather than learning how to fish.

✍Whenever opportunity comes your way to meet anyone in position to help, instead of asking for fishes, ask them to teach you how to fish.

👉For those who give fishes, I am not saying stop giving but rather teach, encourage or sponsor people to learn how to catch the fish themselves which they will not only help themselves but others too.

If you are looking for a place to sponsor or empower people to learn how to catch the fish themselves, CK Signatures Academy is sure to go place.

Hope you got value😍

TURNING YOUR EXCUSES TO SOLUTION

✍So many of us are fond of giving one excuse or the other why things are not going well in our lifes or why things are not going the way they ought to in our lifes, yes we know that excuses are bound to happen. We know that things happen that are beyond our control atimes, the question here is what are we doing to savage the situation, yes excuses here and there.

✍I remembered when my first child clocked two and we(I and my husband) were trying to make a good choice of the school she will attend even though she was already in a preschool somewhere. The school were I was working at the time, I was not too comfortable with the settings, I began to experience some things I have never experienced in my entire teaching experience before i joined them. I just told myself that I wasn’t going to work for two long with the school that when the right time comes I will leave and probably look for another school or do something else. When we were trying to make a choice for my daughter’s school, my husband made mention of a particular school that will fit into our budget. Considerinng the school, I looked at distance and how am I going to cope since I was still working. But upon enquiry at the school, I found out that the school does not have a school bus which is very important if our daughter was to attend the school because my place of work and the location were the school is situated are two parallel lines.

✍When I got back home, my husband knew I had been complaining of the school were I was working and looking forward to leave soon and told me this is a big opportunity, if the school does not have a school bus just the same way you are faced with the challenge of how do my daughter get to school and come back home that means so many parents in the school has similar challenge too, let’s get a space bus and be the solution to the problem on ground. That was how my husband convinced me and fortunately I left the school where I was working. We got the space bus and I started the school runs business. Although at the beginning it was very challenging because I didn’t have the number of children i was expecting but I had just two children for the whole session and with time, things evolved we made progress and we had more children.

✍What I might trying to bring out from this story of mine, yes I have made excuses why my daughter should not go to this school because of no school bus, distance etc but in the midst of this excuses I found a solution and I became that solution.

❓What are those things that are limiting you?

❓What are the excuses why you have not done what you ought to do?

❓ What are the excuses you have that is limiting you to have done that particular thing you know you should have done?

✍Oh! may be your excuse is work, time, children etc. I know we all have VALID excuses, we can go on and on to give but have you looked in ward to turn those excuses to a solutuon today.

✍You can be the solution or find a solution to those excuses you are having today if only you can look beyond it.

✍When you look inwards to be that solution or find a solution to your excuses, that solves the whole issue and you forge ahead to look for the way forward or take actionable steps just like I did with mine. I must really say I enjoyed the business, I have written on it in one of posts titled “Documentation is key”

✍I turned my excuses into a solution and gained from it, you too can turn your excuses into a solution and you can make something profitable and good out of it.

✍What I would not support is you just wallowing in your excuses. You gave the same excuses last year, you gave the same excuses this year, you need to look for a way to get out of those excuses and do something good or tangible with your life that you will be proud of.

❓Do you still want to remain where you use to be?

❓ Don’t you want to change your level?

❓ Are you not tired of where you are today?

👏🏽I urge you to begin to look for the way forward, turn those excuses into something good, turn those excuses into a solution.

📢EXCUSES DON’T REMAIN FOREVER EXCEPT YOU PERMIT IT.

Hope you got value😍.

Window Shopping

Several years ago my husband asked me to go on window shopping as someone in business on a list of things that will be beneficial and help me make great decision that will be the best for my business but I replied by telling him I don’t need that, when I have the money to purchase the things I need, I will go ahead and do so. When I eventually got the money, I discovered that I will become more confused in choice and decision making that I ended up losing some money. I had to retrace my step back and start doing window shopping both offline and online for things that will be beneficial to my business. I do window shopping here atimes by going through my timeline, screenshot, note down and save information that will be valuable to my business.

Window shopping is the same as market research/survey in business today. It keeps you informed and abreast and helps you to make the best decision for your business.

Market research/survey is the way you obtain critical information and helps you make well informed and important decisions about your business in order to reduce risk. Without market research/survey, it is almost impossible to understand what your ideal customers really want even though you might have an idea. If you really want to gain their loyalty, market research is the way to go. Only market research/survey can tell you why they buy your product and what they are thinking about your product.

Market research/survey can help to reveal key areas of your competitor’s products, their marketing strategies and to know your ideal customers which gives you an edge or an advantage over your competitors and adds value to your business.

Have you done window shopping today for your business?

If you got value, please let me know in the comment section.

To know more about market research/survey and other things that will be valuable to your business, you can get my book;

CK Signatures Limited(Behind the scene story of YOGHURT and GRANOLA)

Some years ago, when I was pregnant with my second child, I could not do without drinking a popular brand of yogurt, it became my daily supplement that if I have not drank one big pack of it, I will not get myself for that day.😂😂😂😂😂

But on this particular day as usual I went to a store to get it but on getting home, I checked the expiring date on the yogurt as my usual practice to always check most especially food products only to discover that it has expired 2months ago.🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨

👏🏽🙇‍♀️I began to thank God for saving me from this disaster of drinking an expired yogurt as a pregnant woman. I had to return it to the shop I bought it from and cautioned the owner never to do that again because it is dangerous to people’s health.

✍ It is important we are conscious of what we eat and drink because it could be beneficial/harmful to our health.

✍We are in a society were fast money is the order of the day, why not take control of your health because no one will do that for you by equipping yourself with knowledge of things you love to eat or drink. The good news is that learning most of them comes with a meagre amount of money.

💁🏼‍♀️As a result of my love for yogurt although not on a daily basis like when I was pregnant, the expiring date issue and the product becoming more expensive, I decided to learn how to make yogurt according to my taste, that is healthy and not just for me but my entire family. My children calls me the best mum ever and always excited when they see me making yogurt at home.

💁🏼‍♀️I also realised I could make money out of it too aside from given my family a healthy treats which I am doing presently..

Yoghurt, yoghurt parfait and granola were added to the other products of CK Signatures Limited.

Benefits of yoghurt

👉Yogurt is a good alternative for lactose-intolerant people.

👉Yoghurt is good for your gut health.
👉Yoghurt helps to control cholesterol.

Public Speaking

✍Some years ago, when I gained admission into secondary school. As a new student in J. S. S. 1, we were asked to join a club. I had a classmate then, her elder sister was a member of press club, she told me about press club and I was so excited, we both joined. After joining, our roles as members were spelled out to us, which one of them was to source for news from the school, newspaper, television etc. Thanks to my dad of blessed memory who loves to listen to news and can not do without buying news paper at home, the task of sourcing for news, writing and editing became easier because he is always there to help me out.

✍I and my classmate began to grow in press club as we move from one class to another. When we got to J. S.S. 3, we moved from just sourcing, writing and editing of news to casting of news. I remembered the first time we were to cast news on the assembly ground, my school is a public school, so we do our assembly in front of a story building that has a lot of space in front of it. Anyone who is leading or disseminating information does that from the top floor. Just imagine we facing the large crowd of students and staffs. It was time for I and my classmate to cast the news, we both started shivering, sweating profusely and our voice was shaking seeing all the crowd in front of us who has their gaze fixed on us. At last, we tried our best to cast the news though not with the 100% confidence expected. After we finished, we were cheered by the students and staffs. With time, repeating the process over and over again, we became masters of news casting.

✍By the the time, we got to S.S.S.1 because I and my classmates were science students, so most students and staffs expected us to leave press club and join jet club which is the normal norm but we still continued with press club because we were enjoying it and self development was taking place in us.

✍I became the vice – president while my classmate became the the editor – in – chief in S. S. S.1. We both continued with casting news on the the assembly ground throughout senior secondary school because we have gained the confidence needed as a result of repeating the process over the years. We were respected by both students and staffs. As a result of the positive change some of our classmates in science class saw in us, this made them became members of press club till we left school.

✍Press club really developed my public speaking skill, exposed me to a lot of opportunities and great things. It tremendously built my confidence level over time that I don’t get scared speaking in front of a crowd.

✍✍Public Speaking is the process of communicating information to an audience(large or small).

✍✍Knowing how to communicate to an audience, sharpens your verbal/non verbal communication skills and critical thinking.

✍✍When speaking in public, the information should be intentional, purposeful and meant to inform, educate and influence your audience.

💁🏼‍♀️WHY IS PUBLIC SPEAKING IMPORTANT

👉It increases your self confidence.

👉Each time you speak, it makes you become more comfortable around people.

👉It’s a great way to show how much you know about a subject matter.

👉It helps you build followers.

💁🏼‍♀️SOME TIPS TO BUILD PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILL.

👉Take it one step at a time.

👉Choose a subject/niche which you can share with others

👉Pratice in front of a person/ people. With time you will be perfect. Practice makes perfect.

👉Watch yourself in the mirror while practicing your speech by paying attention to your facial expressions, gestures, body movements etc.

👉Record yourself.

👉Work on your breathing.

👉Drink water.

👉Focus on the material not the audience.

👉Join public speaking class.

Documentation is key.

✍Few years ago, I did school runs business which involves me picking children from their home to school and vice versa from my first child’s school. The business was a very lucrative one and it’s still a lucrative one but as usual for every business, the starting point was a bit rough in convincing the parent to sign up with me because I wasn’t endorsed by the school in this capacity.

✍Some parents requested for my home address and came visiting to confirm where I stay while some went behind my back to my child’s class to confirm if I had a child in the school. Eventually I started with two children (for a whole session) and with time more children joined.

✍One thing I ensured I put in place was creating a registration form which includes terms and conditions of service with my company letter head. I also have a company receipt and stamp which parents get upon confirmation of payment. This made the business professional and official. Whenever there is any issue arising within the terms and conditions stated in the registration form, I refer parent back to it and this solves the issue immediately because they have signed the agreement.

✍When more children joined, I was making more than N800,000 in a session. But the carmel’s back broke when I was pregnant with my second child and due to doctor’s advice to observe bed rest, I could not run the business myself. I employed someone to oversee the day to day running on my behalf, but due to frequent complaints from parents, I had to let the person go.

✍The next option available for me was to give the business to someone to run but it will be on a 70%/30% sharing formular where I take 30% and the person takes 70%, which we both agreed to. This person is not a family member but someone close because I respect the person so much. I requested for us to document the agreement and both parties will pen their signatures which was agreed to. Even though I had a lawyer friend who could help me out with the agreement, this person offered to do it because the person is aware am on bed rest and cannot go out due to pregnancy. I oblige because I trust this person as someone very close to me. Each time I ask for the agreement on phone, this person will tell me I will get it soon and this went on and on. This person brought family members to my house to appreciate the opportunity given and promised to send the agreement document. Eventually I allowed this person take over the business without getting the agreement documented and gave all the support needed like giving my bus for some weeks because the person’s bus was faulty, making parents to pay to her account directly even when they are skeptical about it etc.

✍After the person received all the payment within a week with my help, I requested for my own share(30%) and the person began to give stories upon stories. With much pressure from my side, the person gave me part of the money and told me to forget about the business afterall there was no documentation to back my claim up and that’s was the end of the business.

💁🏼‍♀️Today, I know better that documentation in business is very important please don’t make the mistake I made, always do the right thing when it comes to your business.

💁🏼‍♀️Moral lesson

👉Always ensure you register your business.

👉Be professional always when doing business.

👉Don’t ever enter any agreement with someone or an entity without proper documentation.

👉Do the right thing always when it comes to business no matter who is involved.

👉If you are the person in partnership in business, never allow the other person to do the agreement document involved.

💁🏼‍♀️Documentation is key in business.

Hope you got value.
